What this error message means is that the game files you are trying to run are outdated and need to be replaced.
First, make sure you are running the game as an admin.
a) If you installed the game client from our website: Right click the game icon. Select the 'Run as administrator' option.
b) If you installed the game client through STEAM: Exit out of STEAM completely. Right click icon to launch STEAM and select the 'Run as administrator' option.
Next, you can try to validate/repair your game files from the game launcher by clicking the gear shift in the bottom left then the "Troubleshoot" link. Make sure you select the Installed Game you are having trouble with, then select Validate/Repair option. This will verify that your game client is fully up-to-date.
If this does not work, you can manually restart the service by going to the Windows Start Menu and searching for 'services.msc' Run this file, then locate the 'Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service'. Right click the service and select the 'Start' option if it is stopped. Additionally, you should ensure the service startup type is set as 'Automatic'. To do this, right click the service, select the properties option and ensure the startup type is set to Automatic.
